Twisting (the plot) by the pool…

Can't believe it's already Day 3 of my writing retreat at the glorious Chez Castillon in Bordeaux. After a grey and drizzly start, the sun has put its hat on, I'm wearing shorts and just enjoyed a gin and tonic with new writing buddies.

Even better, I've written just shy of 2K words, and — thanks to the amazing author host Jo Thomas — I've found exactly the hook I need to drive book 8 forward. A bit of juggling around to do, but I hope to leave at the end with several more chapters in the bag and a clear direction.

I will also undoubtedly leave a few kilos heavier, as the food (and wine) are both delicious and copious. I haven't ventured into the pool yet, but I plan to take the plunge tomorrow.

I'm currently sitting by the pool, listening to the clank of cutlery and taking notes on all my characters so that they don't suddenly change name/hair colour/age halfway through the book…

I'm sharing a photo of lunch today, which included yummy sardines, crusty bread, salad and cheeses. And a cheeky glass of rose. Truly a little slice of writing heaven.
